W. Axl Rose (born William Bruce Rose Jr.; raised as William Bruce Bailey; born February 6, 1962) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer and activist. He is the lead vocalist of the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses, and has also been the band’s sole constant member since its inception in 1985.
Share Both are great singers for different reasons. Axl has the edge and the raw stage presence.
 Replies 91 Created 6 yr Last Reply 6 yr Top Posters In This Topic 6 4 6 5 Share Axl is (easily) the bigger "star" if you will. I'd go 1A and 1B I guess. Axl wins (but this is a Guns board and I love Axl).
 Share I thought it was going to be tough, but the throat clearing section really gave the win to Axl Rose.
 Share I have never liked Maiden, so I'll go with Axl on this one.
 Share Whenever I have to make a choice, I always compare the artists at their prime. For me, Axl wins this because of uniqueness in voice and stage presence. I only wish Axl could have aged as well as Bruce. Axl at 38 was already a total mess vocally and physically. The man aged quickly.
 Share These comparisons are fun, but everyone has their own taste, Bruce for example, is not even the best vocalist of Maiden for me There mite be a lot of better vocalists than Axl, which I dont know , but he's easily the best frontman ever for me cuz he's GOD. Then comes a league of legends as Mercury, Plant, Patton, Daltrey and Jagger.
 Share Axl in his prime destroyes everyone i mean guy had biggest vocal range in all of music, now we will see how it will sound on this tour. No matter what Axl is always for me and Freddie is second.
 Share 3 minutes ago, MYWIFEMYLIFE said: These comparisons are fun, but everyone has their own taste, Bruce for example, is not even the best vocalist of Maiden for me There mite be a lot of better vocalists than Axl, which I dont know , but he's easily the best frontman ever for me cuz he's GOD. It's not even close for me. I still love Axl, and they really are quite different. But for the sake of the thread, Bruce crushes it. When you go to an Iron Maiden show, you don't have 65 threads the night of the tour opener about "Mickey Mouse", "helium voice", oxygen tanks, etc., with regards to Bruce's vocals. You know he's going to deliver.
 Share Just now, Zeppelin said: Bruce Dickinson is the man. It's not even close for me. Pure fucking talent right there. Early Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury are the only others that are in that league.
 Share Without any doubt - Bruce is the man!
 Share Oh I agree that Axl in his prime was an absolute beast. A freak of nature, really. But I guess I look at it differently, because I don't want to always have to reference performances from the 80's or early 90's. Axl's had some great vocals since then, but we all know he's been hit and miss. For me, consistency trumps the rest. But at the same time, rock and roll is a young man's game. Part of the mystique around Zeppelin is that they were forced to quit before we got to see them get really old (like we are seeing with AC/DC in recent years). GN'R sort of had that same mystique due to Axl going into hiding for so long in the mid-90's to early 2000's. Unfortunately he came back as "Guns N' Roses" with a band that wasn't really GN'R and he was no longer the incredible Axl of 1985-1993.
 Share Are we going for vocal range ? Are we going for stage presence ? Are we going for interaction with the crowd ? Are we going for number of gigs played ? Are we going for album sales ? Both of them are great front men in their respective bands let's NOT compare them. Just saw them about a week ago and he still gets the crowd going! Axl was the best in his prime 87-93 but then he fell off of the deep end. Now he is making a big comeback this year which is awesome! Axl wrote more songs so I guess he wins that category. But Bruce can fly a big ol' jet airliner! It's a tie!
 Share I love metal, and a hand full of maiden tunes, but i find it difficult listening to a full maiden album and a big part of that is Bruce's voice. Segundo Video da série Duelo VocalEssa nova série que traz uma comparação entre dois grandes cantores, no video de hoje Bruce Dickinson vs Axl Rose

I'd start saying that this comparison is stupid and unnecessary (two different kind of singers, two different music genres and backgrounds), but I can't believe there's people who say that, as a singer, Axl is better than Bruce. Dickinson DESTROYS Axl in vocal control, extension, discipline, training and phisical shape. The guy is in his 57, he's still doing helluva job on the old Maiden tunes and he sounds incredible in Book Of Souls. Two different planets. On the other hand, Axl at the time was better in being a frontman and for stage presence. If we talk about being a vocalist in a generic way, Bruce is one of the best outta there. If we talk, instead, about being a rock singer, Axl all the way. Bruce tells Journal de Montreal about sharing the Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose is an undisputed expert at antagonising others. He’s made countless enemies, caused fights with other bands, and his exploits on one occasion made Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson live to regret not punching him. Rose, of course, is no stranger to a fight backstage after his shenanigans at the MTV Awards in 1992 with Nirvana. Verbally, the pair had been jousting for some time after Kurt Cobain labelled them “sexist” in the press, a comment which led to the Guns N’ Roses loudmouthed frontman referring to them as “junkies” during an on-stage rant. Things then got physical at the awards ceremony after Cobain spat on Axl’s keyboard before he closed the show with Elton John, a move that led to Guns N’ Roses attempting to tip over Nirvana’s trailer in response. Things could have turned tragic, however, as Rose discovered that Frances Bean Cobain was on board the trailer moments before stopping his revenge. Nirvana were not the first group that Rose had angered. In fact, four years earlier, during a show with Iron Maiden in Quebec City, Guns N’ Roses were handpicked to support the British rockers, but it all ended disaster. The first issue they ran into was a lack of a soundcheck due to the mass preparation needed for Maiden’s stage show, a situation that already riled up Guns N’ Roses before they’d even performed. Later on, Rose began to speak rudely to the crowd and mocked them for speaking French, despite it being the native tongue of Quebec, which infuriated Dickinson. Not only is it an unnecessary and uncourteous move, but it also created a hostile atmosphere for the rest of the evening. Looking back at the show with Le Journal de Montréal in 2015, Dickinson opened up about this harrowing incident. He said, “I should have come on-stage and given him a punch. How could he dare speak to my audience in that way? I always regretted not having done so.” There’s no lost love between the duo, and when Rose briefly replaced Brian Johnson as the singer in AC/DC, Dickinson admitted he feared it could be “horrible”. “It’s an odd situation,” he said. “I hope Brian can get some respite for whatever his medical issue is. He’s a lovely guy. There’s just Angus [Young, guitar] in AC/DC now as far as original members. I hope Angus ends up holding up the amazing reputation and the name of AC/DC. “It’d be horrible to see it end with people not turning up on stage or being very late. I hope it works out okay for everyone,” he brutally added in a dig at Rose. Although that night in Quebec was decades ago, it’s evident that Dickinson still has no time for Axl Rose, and he’s not alone with this perspective. Rose is one of rock’s most popularising figures, with his cliched cartoonish antics ruffling feathers wherever he goes and continuing to get his name chalked off more Christmas card lists with each passing year. of all the message boards on the internet, this is one Welcome, Guest. Please login or register.
